Choosing Shoes for Parkour

One of the great things about parkour is that it is a sport that almost anyone can try, regardless of age, experience, or fitness level. You do not need a lot of expensive equipment to get started—just comfortable clothing, a positive attitude, and a good pair of shoes.
The right shoes can help your child feel more confident and comfortable while learning parkour skills. Shoes with good grip can make activities like climbing, jumping, and balancing easier and safer. On the other hand, shoes that are too heavy, slippery, or bulky can make movement more difficult.
What Should I Look for in a Parkour Shoe?
When shopping for parkour shoes, we recommend looking for:
Lightweight design for easy movement
Good grip on the bottom of the shoe, rubber is always better than foam
Flexible soles that allow natural foot movement
Durable materials that can handle active play
Comfortable cushioning for jumping and landing
Fewer seams and weak points that may wear out over time
Our coaching staff trains in parkour regularly and has tested many different shoes over the years. Below are some of our favorite options.

Our Recommendation
There is no single "perfect" parkour shoe. The best choice depends on your child's age, experience level, comfort preferences, and your family's budget.
For younger students and beginners, any lightweight athletic shoe with good grip is usually a great place to start. As students continue training and develop their skills, they may discover specific features they prefer in a parkour shoe.
If you have questions about footwear, feel free to ask one of our coaches. We are always happy to help families find an option that works best for their athlete.
